The place is abandoned and we were the only ones there. Really cool to see the ruins of a castle from 1143. There is parking all the way up through the gates where you can turn around. Stairs will lead to first a small bunker with a beautiful 360 view and then further up to the castle. Stairs in the castle lead to a platform with a viewpoint over the area and a higher viewpoint from the roof

Nice views from the top, certainly worth stopping here and take the stairs to the top. The road to the top is in poor conditions. With a ferrari this is not possible, a fiat its possible.

While the castle is much older than WWII, it served as an important battleground during the allied invasion of Sicily. There’s no gatekeepers to the facility. It’s open access to anyone. It appears to have once been some sort of museum, but is no longer maintained.

Château du Lude

The Château du Lude is one of the many great châteaux of the Loire Valley in France. Le Lude is the most northerly château of the Loire Valley and one of the last important historic castles in France, still inhabited by the same family for the last 260 years. The château is testimony to four centuries of French architecture, as a stronghold transformed into an elegant house during the Renaissance and the 18th century. The monument is located in the valley of Le Loir. Its gardens have evolved throughout the centuries.
