Even though it is a small museum, it is well organised. The exhibition starts from the very early ages of the area and Thrace generally. It shows all the history of Didimoteicho and Plotinoupoli. The staff is very friendly and willing to assist and explain you each part of the exhibition. It is strongly recommended to visit it and then stroll around the Byzantine castle of the city. Unfortunately Plotinoupoli the ancient city is under excavation and not open to the public.

An interesting new museum with a modern look and an interesting collection on display. Given it is a Byzantine museum I found it strange that there is not a single icon on display, only three fragmented, though beautiful faces from 12th-century wall painting.

The perfectly english speaking ticket lady inside the museum told us we could not visit it on Monday and Thursday, yet she was at work inside. We spent the previous night in Dydimotiko just to visit the Byza Museum. Not even child pity she showed. May be if you are greek you can try with mother tongue oratory, good luck.
