On Saturday, when the weather was nice, I ran a big lap with the dog ? and the goal was the Kirnburg. The paths are easy to walk, the ascent directly to the castle ruins is incredibly steep and exhausting ??? but it's worth it. At the bottom of the ruin there is a roof with a table and benches on the castle, unfortunately, but there are many cozy stones. The highest is the cross, which can be reached via a small metal staircase. When the weather is great the view is beautiful and I would all cases come back here.

Lovely walk through the black forest up to these ruins. Amazing views from the top, and a sheltered picnic area.

The Kirnburg was the destination of a bike trip. Due to the grandiose view simply brilliant and therefore highly recommended....

Beautiful challenging hiking trails. Great ruin, since a lot has grown over, you can only guess how big the outlines were. Small house with seating right by the castle to have a snack break. View very nice

Nice, but small. The hiking route is fantastic. Deep forest, tall trees, dark forest. There is a route for cars as well, but make sure you have an axe in case a tree fell on the road. Which happens quite frequently.

Beckov Castle

The Beckov castle stands on a steep 50 m tall rock in the village Beckov. The dominance of the rock and impression of invincibility it gaves, challenged our ancestors to make use of these assets. The result is a remarkable harmony between the natural setting and architecture.

The castle first mentioned in 1200 was originally owned by the King and later, at the end of the 13th century it fell in hands of Matúš Èák. Its owners alternated - at the end of the 14th century the family of Stibor of Stiborice bought it.

The next owners, the Bánffys who adapted the Gothic castle to the Renaissance residence, improved its fortifications preventing the Turks from conquering it at the end of the 16th century. When Bánffys died out, the castle was owned by several noble families. It fell in decay after fire in 1729.

The history of the castle is the subject of different legends.
