Alconchel Castle

Alconchel, Spain

Alconchel Castle is built in the site of Roman, Visigoth and Moorish fortifications. Today oldest parts date from the 12th century, when Alconchel was reoccupied by kings of Portuguese and León. The castle was altered in the late 14th century and 16th century for better protection against gunpowder weapons. Numerous battles between the kingdoms of Spain and Portugal took place here.

On our route, there was this castle and we had to see it, it is one of the highest I have ever seen, you drive up to almost the entrance, then you do the rest on foot and when you arrive and catch your breath... 360 views of the place, it's €1.50 per ticket and it's worth it, the lady who served us was lovely.

Beautiful castle and very well preserved. Access a little difficult, as the climb is still a little steep. But it's worth. Unfortunately the castle is only open on weekends. And at the week by appointment.

It is easily reached and has a small parking lot. We could not enter the Castle because it was closed, but it has extraordinary views of the town of Alconchel.

I didn't like it because the interior has been renovated using very modern structures...it doesn't seem the most appropriate to me. It would be fine if it weren't for that. It's a shame what they've done inside the truth, I don't understand how the people responsible allow this type of work in places like this

After the walk up to the castle it was closed. Still the views were worth it.

Clementinum

The Clementinum is a historic complex of buildings in Prague. Until recently the complex hosted the National, University and Technical libraries, the City Library also being located nearby on Mariánské Náměstí. The Technical library and the Municipal library have moved to the Prague National Technical Library at Technická 6 since 2009. It is currently in use as the National Library of the Czech Republic.

Its history dates from the existence of a chapel dedicated to Saint Clement in the 11th century. A Dominican monastery was founded in the medieval period, which was transformed in 1556 to a Jesuit college. In 1622 the Jesuits transferred the library of Charles University to the Klementinum, and the college was merged with the University in 1654. The Jesuits remained until 1773, when the Klementinum was established as an observatory, library, and university by the Empress Maria Theresa of Austria.
