A very beautiful castle, it is a shame that it cannot be visited inside.

The Castle of the Order of Santiago, Valencia del Ventoso, is a fortress located in the town itself, in the foothills of the southern mountains. The current fortification was built by Rodrigo de Cárdenas in the last quarter of the 15th century when he was Commander of the Order of Santiago. Later, his son Juan de Cárdenas, who was also Commander of the Order, continued with the construction. The castle is a construction with an irregular hexagonal floor plan, with a cube in each corner and two others, located on the east and south sides. The diameter of the cubes is greater at the start than at the rest of the height. The castle is built of masonry and stone and has solid crenellated walls to which there are seven cylindrical reinforcement cubes attached. In the southern corner you can see several terraces on arches. The castle was declared a Site of Cultural Interest in 1993 and is one of the main tourist attractions in the town. Its interior cannot be visited. Accessible for people with reduced mobility. Outdoor. Visitable all year round. Gratuitous. Parking. A wonderful town full of friendly and cordial people. Castle in perfect condition and if you have time, go to the hermitage of the valley with its patron saint. A preciousness.

The fortified house of Valencia del Ventoso sits on a rocky base at the eastern end of the town. The construction of this fortified house was begun in 1477 by Santiago Commander Rodrigo de Cárdenas, but it was not completed until a century later, in the period of Philip II. The palatial strong house of Valencia del Ventoso is a solid building with an irregular hexagonal floor plan, made of masonry and stone, which has solid crenellated walls to which seven cylindrical reinforcement cubes are attached. On the southern corner, two terraces open on arches, creating a volumetric structure of great plasticism. On the main doorway there is a plaque and an imperial coat of arms, which refer to the completion of the work in the time of Felipe II.

Clementinum

The Clementinum is a historic complex of buildings in Prague. Until recently the complex hosted the National, University and Technical libraries, the City Library also being located nearby on Mariánské Náměstí. The Technical library and the Municipal library have moved to the Prague National Technical Library at Technická 6 since 2009. It is currently in use as the National Library of the Czech Republic.

Its history dates from the existence of a chapel dedicated to Saint Clement in the 11th century. A Dominican monastery was founded in the medieval period, which was transformed in 1556 to a Jesuit college. In 1622 the Jesuits transferred the library of Charles University to the Klementinum, and the college was merged with the University in 1654. The Jesuits remained until 1773, when the Klementinum was established as an observatory, library, and university by the Empress Maria Theresa of Austria.
