Arguijuelas de Abajo Castle

Cáceres, Spain

Arguijuelas de Abajo Castle was originally a fortitied mansion, which was built from the middle of the 15th to the 16th centuries by order of Don Francisco de Ovando “el Viejo” ('the Elder') together with the castle of Arguijuelas de Arriba. The walls and exterior watchtowers were added later, during the 19th century. Within the complex you will find a walled garden, terraces, a pond, an olive grove, a chapel and outhouses for livestock.

The current owner has converted the building for public use. The visitor will enjoy the impressive gardens and the charm of the place.

Beautiful setting near Cáceres with castle included The farm is large and very well cared for. The pavilion where we ate was very beautiful and the menu for the event (a wedding) great.

I was invited to an event that was being held here and, honestly, I thought it was a beautiful place, with very careful decoration. Very friendly staff. It has some really nice gardens.

Delighted with the service and treatment. We celebrated our wedding and everything that depended on them went very well. Great attention we would repeat. The guests were delighted with the venue and the food. They paid special attention to allergy sufferers, the meter looked for me to bring snacks to celiacs. Great attention from Cristian and Paco.

It was the ideal place to celebrate our wedding. The experience for our guests who came from the US was magical. They couldn't believe how beautiful the castle looked at sunset. The cocktail, the food, the service were all 10. Price-quality is unbeatable. I recommend it to any couple who wants to get married in a castle!

Clementinum

The Clementinum is a historic complex of buildings in Prague. Until recently the complex hosted the National, University and Technical libraries, the City Library also being located nearby on Mariánské Náměstí. The Technical library and the Municipal library have moved to the Prague National Technical Library at Technická 6 since 2009. It is currently in use as the National Library of the Czech Republic.

Its history dates from the existence of a chapel dedicated to Saint Clement in the 11th century. A Dominican monastery was founded in the medieval period, which was transformed in 1556 to a Jesuit college. In 1622 the Jesuits transferred the library of Charles University to the Klementinum, and the college was merged with the University in 1654. The Jesuits remained until 1773, when the Klementinum was established as an observatory, library, and university by the Empress Maria Theresa of Austria.
