Everything is a ruin, they are raising the walls, there is nothing inside

Nice spot here to take in the surroundings. Nice walk there. You can taste the history. The contours of the castle are clearly visible, neat and clean. Beautiful views, despite the somewhat bad weather. Good view of the sea, good overview of the old town. Very quiet on the street.

Beautiful town of Maestrazgo. The castle fortress is very interesting, they are currently restoring it. If you are in the area, you cannot miss it.

The castle is a little hidden treasure, at the top of a charming town with very welcoming people. You can visit and walk around the whole thing, and we were told it was under restoration... At least the parts at risk were well protected. From the top you can enjoy an imposing view that is well worth the climb. Don't hesitate to stop for a bite and a drink at one of the village's eateries on your way down. We visited the castle at sunset, with wonderful light and stunning views of the surroundings. At night, the castle is lit up and the view from below is stunning!

Abbey of Saint-Georges

Saint-Georges de Boscherville Abbey is a former Benedictine abbey. It was founded in about 1113 by Guillaume de Tancarville on the site of an earlier establishment of secular canons and settled by monks from the Abbey of Saint-Evroul. The abbey church made of Caumont stone was erected from 1113 to 1140. The Norman builders aimed to have very well-lit naves and they did this by means of tall, large windows, initially made possible by a wooden ceiling, which prevented uplift, although this was replaced by a Gothic vault in the 13th century. The chapter room was built after the abbey church and dates from the last quarter of the 12th century.

The arrival of the Maurist monks in 1659, after the disasters of the Wars of Religion, helped to get the abbey back on a firmer spiritual, architectural and economic footing. They erected a large monastic building one wing of which fitted tightly around the chapter house (which was otherwise left as it was).
